Ilsonfootball is a website devoted primarily to the history of Ilkeston football, from the first club formed in 1882 right through to Ilkeston FC who were founded in November 2010 following the demise of Ilkeston Town.

The website is not in competition with the three established websites currently devoted to the present club, namely the official club website, the IFCSG site and the long established unofficial Whiteball Project. Instead, its aim is to fill a void by offering information that the aforementioned sites do not currently provide.

Because today becomes history tomorrow the site will constantly evolve and build. To begin with information will be fairly limited as the ongoing and seemingly neverending research into the football club continues unabated but in time the aim is to have a website that will rival any website devoted to any club in the UK.

There will be final tables for every season, results of every match played including scorers and attendances where known, player biographies, statistical summaries of players' playing records, match reports from the inaugural 1882/83 season through to the present day, and hopefully even a complete set of results and tables for the reserve teams.

However, as the website name suggests, it is also intended to incorporate information unrelated to the senior clubs such as details of Ilkestonians who never played for their local club but who had a successful playing career professionally, the Ilkeston & Heanor Boys team that reached the last eight of the English Schools' Trophy in 1965/66, local leagues and much more.

The website is intended for providing information about Ilkeston football to all its followers but hopefully it will also provide enjoyment and interest to football enthusiasts in general. If any parties wish to use any of the information provided within for personal use they may do so without permission. However, I would appreciate it if any of it is going to be used for publication, for instance match programmes, that they contact me first and give an accreditation to the website.

Finally, a massive thank you to the Ilkeston Advertiser and John Shiels for allowing me the use of images from their vast collections. If anyone else has any photos that they feel would improve the site please do not hesitate to contact me.
