Right back who played for Linton and Gresley Rovers before playing Wartime football with Derby County (1app). Rejoined Gresley before signing for Ilkeston during the 1950/51 season. Made a single appearance at home to Mansfield Town 'A' on 30/4/51.

RICHARD PALLISTER
Skilful and experienced wide midfielder who joined Ilkeston in Summer 1978 having played for Linby Colliery and Long Eaton Grange. Scored on his debut and was a regular in the team throughout the 1978/79 season but left early in the following season for Kimberley Town. Debut: 19/8/78 v Heanor Town (H). Last appearance: 27/8/79 v Mexborough Town Athletic (H). Record: 1978/79 29apps, 1goal; 1979/80 3apps. Total: 32apps.
 
JERMAINE PALMER

Born Derby 28/8/1986. Powerfully built, much travelled striker who began his career with Stoke City (4apps) from whom he went on loan to Boston United. Had a spell with Icelandic side Vikingar before having spells at Grimsby Town, Scarborough, York City, Hinckley United (loan), Kettering Town (loan) Alfreton Town and Grantham Town. Then joined Hinckley United and Halesowen Town prior to signing for Ilkeston for the first time in Summer 2007. After failing to make the impact hoped for, left Ilkeston in Autumn 2007 and played for Worksop Town, Halesowen Town, Corby Town, Weymouth and Boston Town before signing for Ilkeston for a second time in October 2009. Appeared to be short on fitness and soon departed again, for Holbeach. Debut: 22/8/07 v Stamford (H). Last appearance: 12/12/09 v Blyth Spartans (A). FRANK PARKER
Centre half who joined Ilkeston at the start of the 1949/50 season from Derby Carriage & Wagon having played Wartime football with Notts County (5apps, 1goal). Unable to hold down a first team place he left later in the season after making 6 consecutive appearances in the early Autumn. Debut: 17/9/49 v Notts County 'A' (H). Last appearance: 22/10/49 v Shirebrook Supporters (H).

LES PARKER

Popular local player who broke into Ilkeston's first team from the reserves as a youngster late in the 1976/77 season. Played frequently in the first team over the following couple of seasons before joining Heanor Town in 1979. Rejoined Ilkeston shortly before the end of the 1979/80 season but after losing his place midway through the 1980/81 season signed for Kimberley Town and then Long Eaton United. Strong and determined, he could play in midfield or full back but was best suited to central defence where he played most frequently. Debut: 11/4/77 v Bridlington Trinity (A). Last appearance: 1/11/80 v Bridlington Trinity (H). Record: 1976/77 5apps; 1977/78 24+1sub; 1978/79 28apps; 1979/80 9apps, 1goal; 1980/81 16apps. Total: 82+1sub, 1goal.
 
GEOFF PARKIN

Born Mansfield 11/4/1928. Inside left who played League football with Derby County (9apps) before joining Ilkeston during the 1952/53 season. Made just 3 appearances, the last of which coincided with Town clinching the 1952/53 Central Alliance title. Left in the Summer for Langwith Miners Welfare. Debut: 22/4/53 v Coalville Town (H). Last appearance: 28/4/53 v Bentinck Welfare (A).

CHRIS PARR
Born Leicester 8/1/1988. Formerly on the books of Bradford City. Teenager who came on as substitute in the final game of the 2006/07 season, at home to Radcliffe Borough on 28/4/07. Subsequently moved on to play for Shepshed Dynamo.

JACK PARRY

Local right half who played in Ilkeston Town's first five matches in their history. The father of John and Jeff. Debut: 25/8/45 v Chilwell Garrison (A). Last appearance: 22/9/45 v Nottingham Forest Reserves (H).

JEFF PARRY

Cousin of Jeff and John. Reserves player who made a couple of substitute appearances during Ilkeston's 1967/68 Midland Counties League title season, in the home games against Scarborough and Grantham on 4/11/67 and 20/1/68 respectively. Previously on Derby County's books he joined from Strelley in 1967 and later played for Kirk Hallam.

TED PARRY

Local inside right who made his debut in Ilkeston Town's first ever match and scored in their first home game. Made just 4 appearances, scoring the one goal, before moving on to Awsworth Villa. The uncle of John and Jeff. Debut: 25/8/45 v Chilwell Garrison (A). Last appearance: 22/9/45 v Nottingham Forest Reserves (H).

MICHAEL PASHLEY
Young reserves midfielder who made 4 appearances during the 2005/06 season, including 1 as substitute. Debut: 4/10/05 v Prescot Cables (H). Last appearance: 20/12/05 v Long Eaton United (A).
 
BILL PASSMORE

Prolific scoring centre forward who spent much of his only season at Ilkeston playing in the reserves, scoring 9 goals in one second team match. Formerly with Derby All Blacks, Heanor Athletic and Gresley Rovers before joining Ilkeston in 1954. Scored twice on his first team debut and scored a hat-trick at home to Heanor Athletic on 26/12/54. Left in Summer 1955 to return to Gresley Rovers after scoring 11 goals in just 8 games for Town. Later played for Heanor Town, Rowditch Athletic and Ashbourne Town.

ROGER PATRICK

Born Golden Valley c1952. Former Derby County youngster who joined in Summer 1971. An industrious right winger with plenty of finesse he was moved into a central midfield role later in his first season. Despite having a good first season he often bore the brunt of criticism from supporters and towards the end of his time at the club lacked confidence in home games whilst looking the part away from home. Left early in the 1972/73 season and went on to play for Belper Town and Alfreton Town. Debut: 14/8/71 v Cheltenham Town (H). Last appearance: 19/9/72 v Heanor Town (H). Record: 1971/72 39+1sub, 4goals; 1972/73 10apps, 1goal. Total: 49+1sub, 5goals.

FRANK PAXTON

Local left back signed from Ilkeston Electric. Made a single appearance away at Teversal & Silverhill Colliery on 16/4/49 before going on to play for Stanton Ironworks.
 
SIMON PAYNE
Forward formerly with Stapleford, Heanor Town, Priory and Arnold Kingswell. Joined in 1988 but only had limited opportunities before moving on to Boots Athletic later in the year. Debut: 9/4/88 v Louth United (H). Last appearance: 3/9/89 v Radcliffe Borough (A). Record: 1987/88 0+1sub; 1988/89 2apps. Total: 2+1sub.

GREG PEARCE
Born Bolton 26/5/1980. Chesterfield (19apps) defender who came on loan for two months in October 2001. Could play at left back or in central defence, making 12 appearances for Ilkeston including 1 as substitute. Later signed for Stalybridge Celtic after a loan spell at Worksop Town. Debut: 27/10/01 v Crawley Town (A). Last appearance: 18/12/01 v Hinckley United (A).

Right back who made a single appearance at home to Derby County 'A' on 14/12/46.

NORMAN PEARSON

Born c1945. Teenage outside left previously with Nottingham Forest who made 2 appearances, away at Scarborough on 30/3/64 and at home to Boston United on 1/4/64. Scored the winning goal on his final appearance.

MARK PENNANT

Born Nottingham 4/5/1966. Very popular left back who arrived with plenty of experience in December 1994. A good tackler who loved going forward and could deliver an excellent cross he helped Ilkeston win promotion to the Southern League Premier Division at the end of his first season as well as collecting Derbyshire Senior Cup runners up medals in 1994/95 and 1996/97. Went on loan to Corby Town midway through the 1996/97 season and moved on to Grantham Town in Summer 1997 before playing for Stamford, Hinckley United and Gedling Town. Previously with Brazilian Colts, Sutton Town, Eastwood Town, Oakham United, Corby Town, Ashfield United and Gainsborough Trinity. The uncle of Premiership star Jermaine Pennant. Debut: 10/12/94 v Racing Club Warwick (A). Last appearance: 10/5/97 v Gresley Rovers (A). Record: 1994/95 34+1sub, 3goals; 1995/96 27+1sub; 1996/97 31+2subs. Total: 92+4subs, 3goals.
 
CARL PENTNEY
Born Leicester 3/2/1989. Promising young goalkeeper who made his League debut at Leicester City (1app). Went on loan to York City before making an emergency appearance for Ilkeston away at Leek Town on 29/1/08. Has since had loan spells at Woking and Leamington.

PAUL PETTINGER

Born Sheffield 1/10/1975. Much travelled goalkeeper who joined Ilkeston in Summer 2007. Started out at Leeds United but made his League debut when on loan at Torquay United (3apps). Then went on loan to Rotherham United (1app) before moving to Gillingham and Carlisle United on a permanent basis without tasting further League action. Next up was a move to Rotherham United (16apps) followed by a spell at Lincoln City (3apps). A move into non League football followed and he played for Halifax Town, Kettering Town, Yeovil, Telford United, Gainsborough Trinity, Hucknall Town, Harrogate Town, Stalybridge Celtic and Worksop Town before signing for Ilkeston. Played regularly during the first half of the 2007/08 season without ever winning over the supporters, making 27 appearances. Has since played for Frickley Athletic, Belper Town and Matlock Town. Debut: 18/8/07 v Ashton United (A). Last appearance: 18/12/07 v Borrowash Victoria (A).

JOE PHEASANT

Young reserve defender who made 3 appearances in 2008/09, including 2 as substitute, but left in 2009 when the reserves set up was disbanded. Went on to play for Long Eaton United and Hucknall Town. Debut: 23/12/08 v Heanor Town (A). Last appearance: 25/4/09 v Whitby Town (A).

DICK PICKERING

Goalkeeper who sometimes suffered from nerves at the start of games but who could play extremely well with the confidence of a good early save. Outstanding at saving penalties, he stopped 9 out of a possible 15 for Ilkeston. Played for Butterley Welfare, Heanor Athletic and Crich United before taking over from Ben Hall in goal for Ilkeston in November 1949. Only missed three games before his final appearance in September 1951, during which time he collected a Derbyshire Divisional Cup winners medal in 1950/51 and a Central Alliance Cup runners up medal during the same season. Showed his adaptability by playing at outside left in the away match at Coalville Town in May 1950 when Ilkeston were a man short. Left Ilkeston in Autumn 1951 upon the arrival of the legendary Joe Sharman and went on to play for Belper Town. Debut: 12/11/49 v Matlock Town (A). Last appearance: 12/9/51 v Linby Colliery (A). Record: 1949/50 28apps; 1950/51 49apps; 1951/52 6apps. Total: 83apps.

GRAHAM PIGOTT

STAN PIGOTT
Inside right who joined Ilkeston from Worksop Town, making 2 appearances, away at Heanor Athletic on 26/12/49 and at home to Stanton Ironworks five days later.

JOHN PIKE
Goalkeeper who deputised for the injured Graham Pigott during the 1970/71 season, making 8 appearances in total, going off with a dislocated finger at half time at Worksop Town on 14/11/70. Did reasonably well but struggled in his final appearance by which time Pigott was fit enough to return. Debut: 10/10/70 v Sutton Town (A). Last appearance: 16/1/71 v South Shields (H).
 
PAOLO PILIERO

Born c1987. Young forward previously with Pelican, Carlton Town, Alfreton Town and Gresley Rovers who moved up from the reserves to make 3 appearances, including 1 as substitute, during the 2007/08 season before moving back to Carlton Town and then Long Eaton United. Debut: 15/9/07 v Sutton Coldfield Town (A). Last appearance: 24/9/07 v Hednesford Town (A).

EDDIE PIRNAT
Former Selston player who made an appearance as a substitute at home to Broseley Athletic on 8/2/92 which Ilkeston won 11-1.

CHARLIE PLACE

Born Ilkeston 26/11/37. Forward who made his League debut as a teenager at Derby County (2apps) before moving to his home town club in 1956. After a brief stay playing at inside left he returned to Ilkeston in 1958 as a right winger following spells at Bourne Town and Stamford. Surprisingly made little impact and soon moved on again, to Long Eaton United. Debut: 29/9/56 v Potton United (A). Last appearance: 10/9/58 v Arnold St Marys (H). Born Doncaster 19/12/1979. Central midfielder who started out with Everton but made his League debut at Lincoln City (5apps). Joined Ilkeston on loan in March 2000, and returned to the club at the start of the following season. Unable to hold down a regular first team place, he left in Spring 2001 to join Emley and later turned out for Alfreton Town. Debut: 6/3/00 v Atherstone United (A). K POWELL

Christian name unknown. Goalkeeper signed from Derby West End who made 4 appearances early in the 1951/52 season before the arrival of legendary 'keeper Joe Sharman. Later turned out for Nightingale Athletic. Debut: 1/9/51 v Retford British Ropes (H). Last appearance: 22/9/51 v Shirebrook Miners Welfare (A).

KEITH POWELL
Former Coventry City, Crewe Alexandra and Gainsborough Trinity defender who arrived at Ilkeston in February 1988 and formed a splendid partnership with Dave McCarthy. Sadly broke his leg in pre-season after scoring 3 goals in 14 games in 1987/88. Never played for the club again although he later appeared for Eastwood Town after recovering fitness. Debut: 20/2/88 v Oakham United (H). Last appearance: 2/5/88 v Harworth Colliery Institute (H).

LIAM POWELL

Born Cardiff 18/9/85. Former Wales schoolboy and youth international who started at Leicester City from whom he had a loan spell with Boston United. Moved into non League football with Kings Lynn and Alfreton Town before signing for Ilkeston in Summer 2007. At right back was one of Town's better performers in a disappointing season, making 47 appearances and scored 1 goal. Left after a season and has since played for Glapwell. Debut: 18/8/07 v Ashton United (A). Last appearance: 26/4/08 v Whitby Town (A).

TERRY POWNALL
Forward who made 3 appearances at the start of the 1987/88 season. Debut: 15/8/87 v Gainsborough Town (A). Last appearance: 26/8/87 v Oakham United (A).

GEORGE PRATT

Appeared at inside left in Town's first ever home game, on 1/9/45 against Rolls Royce. Played as a left back a week later against Leicester City Reserves but never appeared for the club again. Formerly with Stanton Ironworks.

Right back who joined Ilkeston from Alfreton Town in December 1983. Became a first team regular and showed up well until he left during Summer 1985. Played in the team that appeared in the 1983/84 Northern Counties East League Cup final. Debut: 24/12/83 v Winterton Rangers (H). Last appearance: 8/5/85 v Denaby United (A). Record: 1983/84 21+1sub; 1984/85 29+1sub. Total: 50+2subs.

RORY PRENDERGAST
Born Pontefract 6/4/1978. Much travelled left sided midfielder who started out with Frickley Athletic before progressing to Rochdale and Barnsley before making his League debut at York City (3apps). Moved on to Oldham Athletic, Northwich Victoria, Nuneaton Borough, Frickley Athletic, Bradford Park Avenue and Accrington Stanley prior to returning to League action with Blackpool (28apps). Went on loan to Halifax Town prior to signing for Rochdale (19apps, 2goals) from where he went on loan to Darlington (8apps). Then returned to non League with Farsley Celtic, Eastwood Town, Bradford Park Avenue and Goole before joining Ilkeston on a non contract basis in November 2009. Made 5 appearances, two of which he played at left back, before returning to Goole in early 2010. Debut: 21/11/09 v Mossley (H). Last appearance: 12/12/09 v Blyth Spartans (A).

DENNIS PRICE

Utility player who served the club well following spells at Clipstone Colliery and Oakham United. Joined Ilkeston in early 1987 and was a first team regular for over two years during which time he collected a 1986/87 Central Midlands League Cup winners medal. Left early in the 1989/90 season to sign for Eastwood Town. Could play in either full back position or in midfield. Record: 1986/87 16apps; 1987/88 37apps, 4goals; 1988/89 37apps, 1goal; 1989/90 5apps, 1goal. Total: 95apps, 5goals. Debut: 21/2/87 v Oakham United (A). Last appearance: 2/9/89 v Colwyn Bay (A).
 
SCOTT PRIESTNALL
Born Chesterfield. Young left back who started out with his home town club and had a spell at Mansfield Town before joining Staveley Miners Welfare. Joined Ilkeston briefly in Autumn 2001 but left early the following year to return to Staveley Miners Welfare and then Eastwood Town. Rejoined Ilkeston in December 2002 for another brief stay before moving on to a decent career in non League with Bedford Town and Berkhamstead. Record: 2001/02 1+2subs; 2002/03 2+1sub. Total:  3+3subs. Debut: 27/11/01 v Staveley Miners Welfare (A). Last appearance: 21/1/03 v Mickleover Sports (H).

STEVE PROCTOR
Former Staveley Works midfield player who made a single appearance at home to Crookes on 6/2/1988.

MARK QUAYLE
Born Liverpool 2/10/1978. Lively striker who began with Everton but who made his League debut with Notts County (5apps). Had a loan spell at Grantham Town before signing permanently for Grimsby Town. Moved into non League with Southport, Halifax Town and Leigh RMI prior to joining Ilkeston in February 2000. Rarely seen at his best whilst at the club although he was usually used in a wider role. Made 11 appearances, including 3 as substitute, with all 4 of his goals coming against Mickleover Sports away on 22/2/00. Left in the Summer and went on to have a fine career playing for a host of leading non League clubs and winning England semi-pro caps. Clubs included Altrincham, Morecambe, Telford United, Nuneaton Borough, Chester City, Scarborough, Hyde United, Lancaster City and Colwyn Bay. Debut: 19/2/00 v Cambridge City (A). Last appearance: 1/5/00 v Margate (H).
