Left at the end of the 1977/78 season when he announced he was quitting Saturday football but he later reversed his decision and played for Kimberley Town. He was to return to the club, however, late in 1980 but soon required a knee operation before maintaining a regular place in the team until the end of the 1981/82 season. Returned to Ilkeston later in the 2002/03 season following his release from The Irons and made quite an impact. However, the following season was hugely disappointing as he rarely demonstrated his obvious talent and his temperament was called into question. Left in Summer 2004 and matured into a fine striker who scored goals regularly for clubs such as Nuneaton Borough, Gresley Rovers, Grays Athletic, Mansfield Town and Rushden & Diamonds. Collected a Derbyshire Senior Cup runners up medal in his last season for Ilkeston. Debut: 17/9/02 v Cambridge City (H). Last appearance: 1/5/04 v Gloucester City (A). Soon demonstrated his sublime skills but he was something of a luxury, seemingly unable to sustain his form on a regular basis and their were question marks over his temperament. Nevertheless, at his best, was a joy to watch. Picked up a Derbyshire Senior Cup winners medal in one of his final appearances before joining Newcastle Town in 2000. Impressive outside left previously at Sutton Town who signed for Ilkeston in Summer 1966. Won a Derbyshire Senior Cup winners medal at the end of the season but left during the close season for Gresley Rovers. Unable to make a big impact he returned to Ilkeston in December 1993 but sadly failed to recapture his form of old. Started out with Derby County (2apps) and went on to play for Boston United before signing for Ilkeston in Summer 1957. Began the season at centre forward and scored 4 goals against Linby Colliery on 7/9/57 but his intelligent use of the ball and incisive passing led to his move to inside right later in the season. A good penalty taker three of his 4 goals against Stapenhill on 11/1/58 came from the spot, and he won League Cup and Derbyshire Senior Cup winners medals before the end of a successful first season. Was surprisingly left out of the team at the start of the following season and when reinstated appeared to have lost confidence and never recaptured his earlier form. Joined Gresley Rovers in Summer 1959. Debut: 24/8/57 v Nottingham Forest 'A' (H). Last appearance: 20/4/59 v Ransome & Marles (A). Record: 1957/58 35apps, 27goals (6pens); 1958/59 12apps. Won League Cup and Derbyshire Senior Cup winners medals in his first season but although he won a Derbyshire Senior Cup runners up medal in 1959/60 it was a disappointing season for him as injury and loss of form led to a prolonged absence from the first team. Indeed, the following season followed a similar pattern and he left the club in 1961. Debut: 24/8/57 v Nottingham Forest 'A' (H). Last appearance: 5/4/61 v South Normanton (H). Record: 1957/58 39apps; 1958/59 38apps; 1959/60 15apps; 1960/61 10apps. Total: 102apps.
